Hi, I’m Ben!
I'm an EMCC Accredited Career Development Coach for Musicians, opera singer, educator and the founder of Recit. My work is driven by one simple belief: there isn't one right way to build a successful career in music, only the one that's right for you.
Like many musicians, I spent years believing there was only one definition of success. I trained as an opera singer and pursued the career I thought I was supposed to want. While I loved performing, I realised that what gave me the greatest sense of purpose was helping people grow, discover their strengths and build careers that genuinely reflected who they are. That realisation changed the direction of my own career, and it's why I now help other musicians navigate theirs.
I trained through the Ignite programme at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, I work with musicians at every stage of their careers, from students and emerging professionals to established artists navigating career transition, portfolio careers and professional identity. I currently work as a Career Coach with the New Zealand Opera School and as the Resilience Coach for TANZOS (The University of Waikato's prestigious young artist programme), supporting the next generation of singers as they prepare for professional careers.
